June 2015 Julep Maven Unboxing

Woohoo! The June Julep Maven box is here! Here’s what we got this month:
JuneMavenJulepBox

It’s a Lilly Pulitzer box! Which should be super cute, right? Except for I think I kinda got three of the most underwhelming colors ever: a puke green called Sam, a very light pink (almost beige) called Lillian, and a metallic neon pink dubbed Sally.

Not really digging it this month unfortunately. Not even the candy was a saving grace – I have no idea what those lollipop things were but they were decidedly NOT delicious. Oh well – there’s always next month to look forward to!

May Julep Maven Unboxing

I’ve tried my share of subscription boxes – Birchbox, Ipsy and all the others have all fallen by the wayside eventually, but I am still loving my Julep box. Probably because I’m a nail polish hoarder and I have a problem. But I digress. This month for their Set Sail themed box, I chose the Classic With a Twist profile. Behold:

For some reason I was sent two of the navy polishes. I can’t complain; my little sister is quite pleased to be the recipient of  their mistake. P.S., they always send some lovely little candy treats in the box and the saltwater taffy was scrumptious, in case you were wondering.

I chose this one because navy nail polishes are the bomb.com, obvs, but also because I’ve never tried any of the Julep makeup before, so I was curious. I thought this eyeshadow duo in the shade Sequins and Showtime looked quite nice, and I’m a sucker for anything that looks like MAC’s Satin Taupe. I wasn’t disappointed.

I put both the polishes on a wheel, and I actually quite like them together – you’ll probably see me rocking this combo sometime soon. The navy is called Shelby and is a navy ink creme, while the pink is called Amanda, and she’s a raspberry creme shade. Sequins and Showtime comes in a nicely packaged compact with a mirror, and swatched well with plenty of color pay off:

They’re soft, buttery, and they blended acceptably well where the two shades met. Sequins is a nice gold-ish champagne color, while showtime is a pretty gray-purple taupe. Of course, they’re both a shimmer formula because what else would you wear?

What Julep box did you pick this month? Let me know how you’re liking it!
